Cellphone Charm

In 2014, I decided to make a cellphone charm as a gift using 3D printing. Because the hardware for these types of charms are readily available for purchase, I only had to create a model of the charm itself.
Using photographs as reference, I modeled a taiko drum. Much of the detail was lost upon printing, however, because of the small size of the charm, roughly a 1/2 inch in height, and the resolution of the printer. Features such as the black tacks securing the drumming surface did not print as discrete dots and instead appeared to be a continuous ring. In spite of this, I was pleased at the overall look and feel of the charm. Because the charms were printed on their sides, the print layers gave the drum body a convincing wood grain effect.
